WASA Hosts "The Road to Paris" Event Featuring Team USA Wheelchair Basketball Paralympians

Kettle Moraine, WI — June 18, 2024 — Wisconsin Adaptive Sports Association (WASA) hosted a spectacular event, "The Road to Paris powered by WASA," at Kettle Moraine High School on June 13th, showcasing ten remarkable wheelchair basketball Paralympians bound for the upcoming Games in Paris this summer.

The event drew a crowd of approximately 200 spectators who witnessed an exhilarating friendly game that underscored athleticism, talent, and teamwork. Attendees were treated to performances by DJ Shawna and the Bucks Rim Rockers, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Both the men's and women's teams are riding high on their recent Gold Medal victories at the 2023 ParaPanAmerica Games held in Chile last November, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting Paralympic competition in Paris.

Among the featured Paralympians were first-time Team USA members Jeromie Meyer and Emily Oberst, who will make their Paralympic debut in Paris, France. Joining them were seasoned athletes Jake Williams, Natalie Schneider, Becca Murray, Kaitlyn Eaton, John Boie, Nate Hinze, Rose Hollermann, and USA Women's Head Coach Christina Schwab. Their presence and performance exemplified the spirit of determination and excellence that defines WASA athletes.

Attendees were greeted by life size cutouts of the Team USA star athletes.

"We are incredibly proud of our athletes and grateful to our sponsors and everyone who attended 'The Road to Paris' event," said Melissa Oberst, Board of Director of WASA. "Their support and enthusiasm highlight the importance of adaptive sports and the achievements of these extraordinary individuals."

The success of "The Road to Paris" event sets the stage for future events as WASA continues to support its athletes on their journey to international competitions.
